Academic History
Dr. Richard Kramer is a graduate of McGill University School of Dentistry. Upon graduation he completed a degree in Pediatric Dentistry along with his Master of Science in Dentistry at Boston, University School of Graduate Dentistry. He was subsequently appointed Assistant Professor of Pediatric Dentistry at Boston School of Graduate Dentistry. As well, he was Assistant Chief of the Dental Department at Boston’s Kennedy Memorial Hospital for Children serving in this capacity for 2 years.
Professional Practice
After moving to Vancouver, Canada, he began a solo practice in pediatric dentistry and taught part time at UBC. His original office was 850 sq. feet with 3 employees. The office evolved into a highly regarded group practice combining 6 pediatric dentists, 4 orthodontists in 4 office locations totaling 22,000 sq. feet. Over 150 dental staff are employed to this day. Dr. Kramer’s vision contributed to the development of practice guidelines for incorporating multiple dental services within the same office. This model is highly successful and has developed a reputation for high standards and creative environments. Dr. Kramer’s concept of dental office design won the International Interior Design Magazine Gold award.
Professional Organizations
Dr. Kramer served on the dental staff of BC Children’s Hospital and developed the Pediatric Dental Department of Cambie Surgical Centre, Vancouver in 1996. Interest in behavioral assessment and management techniques influenced a philosophy that formed the basis of his successful private practice. He is Past President of the BC Society of Pediatric Dentists; Past President of Dental Specialist Society of BC & served on the Council of the College of Dental Surgeons. In addition he has served on various committees in organized dentistry throughout the years. He is a member of the Canadian & American Societies of Pediatric Dentistry.
Publications
Dr. Kramer’s most recently published article is “Practice Growth and Transitioning – What’s Your Strategy?” An accomplished speaker, he has presented lectures throughout the US & Canada. Interest in reducing anxiety levels in dental offices inspired Dr. Kramer to create an educational program for dental offices. The program provides guidelines for dentists and staff to effectively manage adults and children; encourage positive interaction, enjoyment in the dental environment and enhance practice growth
Consulting
Dr. Kramer has successfully worked with professionals throughout the US and Canada since 2010. This comprises medical, dental and auxiliary personnel both in private practice and hospital settings. Emphasis has been based upon quality & customer service in order to achieve positive results.
